IT Jobs - Utilities

Modis has significant experience working with some of the largest utility companies across the UK and Ireland, through providing contractors and permanent staffing services to this sector, Modis has gained a thorough understanding of the specific nature of theses organisations, the projects undertaken and the type of IT professionals required to make an impact.

Modis’ experience ensures the quality of our delivery and the delivery of our candidates is at a standard which the industry sector demands.

Over the past decade, utility companies have expanded their service offering into multiple revenue streams. They now sell services from electricity and gas, through water and into areas such as insurance and telecoms as well as expanding into new international markets. In doing so, they have become increasingly orientated towards service lead models and away from their original engineering / public works structures. Typical development projects within utility organisations tend to be complex, both in terms of technical solution and scale; often requiring operation within stringent regulatory frameworks. Projects can often have an international dimension and are generally above average duration with large budgets and a high profile.

To meet the above challenges, requires IT professionals with significant experience who can handle the demands of these levels of complexity and who will stay the course. To be successful in utility environments, Modis knows that candidates must have strong, proven technical skills and an adaptable approach. Previous work within utilities, experience of liaising with third parties and offshore partners is often highly desirable.

The technical environments deployed by utility companies can be very diverse, with legacy mainframe still providing the back end for many companies and yet cutting edge CRM and cloud infrastructure being developed to meet the challenge of the years ahead. Modis experience in partnering on this journey and our focus on being the specialist in our chosen fields means that we will continue to be the partner of choice for utility companies in the UK and beyond
